Staff Vacancies

Technical Officer – East Acton

deafPLUS are seeking an experienced person to discharge the duties of a Technical Officer at our East Acton Centre in West London. This is a part-time position of 18 hours a week.

The successful applicant will perform the following tasks:

  • To accept referrals to the Equipment Service from relevant individuals and agencies.
  • To assess clients as to their particular individual equipment needs, following this up with the fitting of this equipment in clients’ own homes.
  • To perform repairs, organise replacements and maintain regular monitoring checks on current equipment held in stock.

The successful applicant will work closely with both the Service and Centre Managers as well as with Ealing Social Services.

Salary is between £20,541.49 – £25,597.81 pro-rata depending on experience and qualifications. Initial contract will be from the date of commencement of duties to the 31st March 2010.

The Sensory Team has an exciting opportunity for developing, delivering and evaluating rehabilitation support services to people with hearing loss. This offers a lead role for an enthusiastic and committed individual in promoting independence through the provision of intensive practical and emotional support.

We are looking for someone who is self motivated, flexible and able to demonstrate interpersonal and organisational skills as well as excellence in communication. You will be fluent in BSL and have experience of working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in a social care or educational setting. You will also have the ability to monitor and evaluate service delivery, provide reports and make recommendations for future service provision.
